Fulfillment of our Vision Statement
I. WE ARE COMMITTED TO EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Our most important ministry is sharing the Good News that , because of Jesus’ death for us, now all who have been helpless and hopeless in sin can be forgiven and free and filled with the Holy Spirit! We are unashamedly a charismatic church, and we’re committed to helping every member of CLC walk in the power of the Holy Spirit daily!
In addition, we’re committed to be an equipping church, where every member is encouraged to discover and develop their giftings and helped to fulfill their own ministry in the body of Christ.
II. WE ARE COMMITTED TO EMPOWERING PEOPLE
We’re a church for all people – regardless of age, gender or race. Martin Luther King said that eleven o’clock on Sunday morning was the most segregated hour of the week in America, and, unfortunately, it’s still true. At CLC, we are intentionally multi-cultural. We want our church to be like a little slice of heaven, where red & yellow, black & white can all come together to worship and grow as together we experience the wonderful diversity of the body of Christ!
And while all age groups are welcome and needed at CLC, (after all, reaching youth requires the wisdom and experience of an older generation); we feel a special calling to reach children with the gospel. Over 85% of all Christians receive Jesus before age 14, so we strive to impact this most receptive audience with the good news of Jesus Christ!
III. WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONNECTING PEOPLE
Each of us needs community in order to truly be transformed into the person God has called us to be - a community of other believers with whom we can; confess failings, apply the Word to our daily lives, be accountable, receive guidance, encourage one another regularly and love one another unconditionally. Our goal is that every CLCer will have a group of friends who do life together!
IV. WE ARE COMMITTED TO LOVING GOD
At CLC, we’re NOT into religion; we’re into a relationship with God! HE must remain our first-love, and helping CLCers to grow in intimacy with Him and to worship Him daily is our priority.
V. WE ARE COMMITTED TO SERVING OTHERS
We feel called to be an ‘outward-focused’ church that truly impacts and influences the south suburbs of Chicago through deliberate acts of strategic hospitality and service. By helping to meet natural needs, we are earning a right to be heard in spiritual matters, as people see our good works and give glory to our father in Heaven.
VI. WE ARE COMMITTED TO REACHING NATIONS
But we’re not satisfied with just reaching the south suburbs, as is obvious when you enter our auditorium and see the flags representing the nations of the world – and more importantly – nations for whom Christ died. At CLC, we truly have a global vision (we even tithe our church’s income to reach nations with the Gospel).
