Our Beginnings

Christian Life Center had its beginning in the first few weeks of 1990, with Pastors Jerry & Chris McQuay and a team of volunteers from the First Apostolic Church of Tinley Park. Together they made over 14,000 phone calls and sent out 10,000 pieces of mail in a two-month telemarketing and direct mail campaign to launch a new church in the south suburbs. A total of 147 people gathered at the opening service on March 25, 1990 at the Tinley Park High School.

We moved into our own home in November, 1991, when we completed the first building on 183rd Street (now our children’s facility). By April of 1995, we dedicated our second building on that location (now our youth facility). Our continued growth made it necessary for us to purchase additional property on the corner of 183rd Street and Ridgeland in 1999, and we began plans for the current sanctuary, which was completed in April 2001.

In February of 2007, Christian Life Center became one church in two locations as Pastors Dan & Pat Johnson and a team of about 100 CLCers launched our second campus in Shorewood.

In August of 2007, we acquired our third campus – this time in South Bend, IN, as the congregation of Christian Tabernacle there decided to become a part of our family, thus accelerating our plan to continue to add new campuses throughout the Chicagoland (and Michiana) area, with a goal of having 10 additional campuses by 2017.
